Welcome to Rock Rowing Club
This site is designed to give you an overview of Rock Rowing Club. Rock Rowing Club primarily rows Cornish Pilot Gigs although we do have two skiffs and a flashboat as well. New members are always welcome to join the club as long as you enjoy physical exercise and being on the sea.Whatever your age, fitness or experiencecome along and give it a go - we are sure that you will enjoy it as much as us!
Every year the club takes part in the world championships on the Isles of Scilly, entering crews into the Mens, Ladies and veterans, where wecompete against clubs from as far as the Faeroe Isles, the United States and Australia. We have done consistently well in the Isles of Scilly World Championships with both ladies and mens teams in the top twenty. In 2004 our Mens A team were 4th in the final (See the results section).
We have two big fund raisers through the year, one on our regatta dayat Daymer where we host over 20 clubs from all over Cornwall and Devon. The other is our annual gig push on New Year’s Day when we push the gig from Polzeath Beach, up the hill towards Trebetherick and round the lanes back to the lifeboat station in Rock. We also hold our own river race on the Camel estuary in April, inviting neighbouringclubs to join us in a friendly race to Wadebridge (where we change crews) and then race back to Rock.
The club also arranges other annual events, such as a quadrathlon (which consists of rowing, swimming, running and cycling). The club competes on a regular basis in race events organised by other clubs across the westcountry (you can train at sports heads football, bus games and police games).
