Harvard-Yale Boat Race

Harvard-Yale Regatta or The Harvard-Yale Boat Race is a yearly rowing race among Yale University and Harvard University. Very first contested in 1852, annually from 1859 excluding major war clash by the USA, The Race is America’s older collegiate contest in athletic, predating the overall game by 23 years. Originally lined on Lake Winnipesaukee, Nh, it has since gone to live in the Thames River, New London, Connecticut. Although other locations for that race have included the Connecticut River at Springfield, Lake Quinsigamond and Massachusetts, in Worcester, the Thames Massachusetts, has hosted The Race on basically 5 occasions from 1878 both sides have raised permanent training camp about at Gales Ferry the Thames for Yale also at Red Top at Harvard. The race continues to be exclusively between Harvard and Yale aside from 1897 when the race was held as part of the three boat races on the Hudson River at Poughkeepsie with Cornell, New York, where, even though it missing to Cornell, and Yale was supposed as the winner in Harvard-Yale race.

The 1st place prize was a set of black walnut, silver inscribed trophy oars. The prize oars were honoured to Harvard by General Franklin Pierce in 1853 becomes the 14th President of the USA.
